Feel Good Fridays: Passiflora

FEEL GOOD FRIDAYS: passiflora, just because 😍✨💟 🐝

And ya know a cool trial for those of you that love double-blind placebo sH*t too.

2001 Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics: Clinical, double blind trial comparing the efficacy of Passiflora incarnata extract with oxazepam in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.

36 patients diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, randomly assigned to drops of passiflora and placebo tablets OR oxazepam tablet and placebo drops for 4 weeks.

[Oxazepam is a benzodiazepine sedative, an often prescribed option for anxiety, but it can be very addicting and extremely difficult for long time users to get off of.]

💟⚡️Guess what y’all-- both were deemed effective in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and

[here's the kicker🤺]

there was NO significant difference in efficacy of the anxiety symptoms between the two options! Showing, passifora can be as effective as the benzodiazepines. I am sure placebo/ intention/ ritual/ the act of taking the medicine helped both too.

FURTHERMORE !!

[keep reading, it gets better!!]

💟✨Significantly more problems relating to impairment of job performance were encountered with subjects on oxazepam. PMID: 11679026

So, in summary: as effective// less side effects// comes from nature// one of the coolest flowers out there, go watch timelapses of them blooming, that will help your anxiety too!

🥰Really though, visualizing passifloras opening is one of my personal meditation exercises and a way to gently activate or focus my mind’s eye, recalling all their unique exquisite details and letting the other cluttered thoughts of the day fade away.

🐝🐝🐝Oh and, the bees LOVE IT and get all gaba drunk and relaxed, like this guy here with his little pollen covered bee hand out like, like “heyyyyyy, you guys gotta try this stuff!” 🐝🐝🐝

[Note, we just learned how it can influence mood related neurotransmitters just like medications right? So be smart and work with an herbal or naturopathic practitioner in your area before stopping, changing or combining with any existing medications]
